You are here: The Navy’s Proposed Action

The Navy proposes to modify and extend military training airspace and sea space within the Mariana Islands Range Complex (MIRC) to safely carry out the training and testing activities approved in the 2010 MIRC EIS/OEIS in order to maintain, train, and equip combat-ready military forces in accordance with Title 10, United States Code. By making these modifications, the U.S. military can continue to maintain a high level of military readiness, provide a safer and more efficient training environment for military personnel, and increase public safety.

The Proposed Action consists of modification to existing training airspace and sea space within the MIRC; however, the scope and nature of training activities associated with the Proposed Action in this EA/OEA would not differ from those activities that were considered and approved as part of the July 2010 Record of Decision for the MIRC EIS/OEIS. The Final EIS can be found here  (scroll down to locate documents). Details regarding airspace training in the MIRC are contained in the 2010 MIRC Final EIS/OEIS.
